The Family Respite programs offers families and primary caregivers a much-needed break which can reduce stress and the opportunity to do some of the things they would not otherwise get to. For the individual this means a chance to participate in social and recreational activities of their choice.
Respite allows the individual to build their social network, develop skills and self-esteem in a supportive environment. For the respite worker this is an opportunity to make a positive difference in someone’s life.
All respite workers are certified in First Aid & CPR and undergo a thorough screening process including an interview, criminal record clearances, health checks, references and drivers abstracts. Respite workers that intend to provide respite in their own homes must also participate in a home study to ensure suitability and safety.
Aspire recruits, screens and approves respite workers to work as contractors. Families can choose their respite workers from this pool or suggest a respite worker of their choice to be screened by the program. It is the family’s responsibility to train their respite workers regarding the specific needs of the individual supported. Aspire supports and monitors respite workers to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all.
